Hi Bloggers!
After finishing and re-reading chapter five from last week, and I still amazed how much sleep is cited in the bible. It really makes me think about how I view sleep. After writing the critical analysis I found myself very much convinced by Schmidt's argument over what sleep has done to society. That with the advent of clocks, and the change in perspective of time people, much like clocks become mechanical too. That they seemed to ritualize caffeine and reading to a point that is machine like. Also that their staying up all night was taking them away from God. We have discussed in class that God gave us the ability to sleep for a reason. It is a hard idea to grasp that sleep keeps us as Christians closer to God. I have gone back and forth with both chapter five and Schmidt's piece to really come to a solid conclusion to what I really think of the religious nature of sleep.
